About Us

My name is Earl Seekins and I like being prepared for life’s little adventures. Whether this is getting lost in the woods, a severe winter storm knocking out the power, a hurricane or any of a dozen other reasons I like to have at least basic preparations in place. My interest in survival started with my working on the wilderness survival merit badge while I was in the Boy Scouts in the 1970’s. This site will talk about a variety of subjects related to emergency preparedness from storing water and food to emergency heating sources. We will also take a look at every day carry, Bug-out Bags, and much more. I will also take a look at the pros and cons of bugging out vs. bugging in and when bugging out maybe your only choice. I take a modular approach to survival gear carrying those items appropriate to the day’s activates and adding to them as necessary. The most important thing to remember is there is no “one size fits all” approach and any information given here should be tailored to fit each individuals needs and requirements. So join me on a journey through the ins and outs of survivalism and emergency preparedness.
